Tattoo FAQs
Q. How much is a tattoo?
A. Pricing all depends on placement on body, size of design, amount of detail, and your skin type
Q. Do you price tattoos over the phone?
A. We cannot due to the aforementioned reasons above
Q. How should I prepare for my tattoo session?
A. Make sure you are well rested, well hydrated, and have eaten recently. Aside from that, take a shower, charge four phone or tablet, and feel free to bring a friend for support if needed.
Q. What should I wear for my tattoo session?
A. Loose comfortable clothing is preferred, something that allows easy access to the area you’re getting tattooed
Q. How should I plan for a larger tattoo (arm, leg, back, etc.)?
A. First thing, have your tattoo subject matter in mind. Then come talk to us. The best large pieces always begin with a cohesive plan, not just bits and pieces loosely tied together. We can do a sleeve or back piece with existing work in place, but it will always look better when you come in with a plan and allow the same artist to help bring that plan to life for you. Be prepared to put a deposit down. Along those same lines, it usually takes multiple sessions because it takes a certain amount of time to cover a large area. So, plan ahead and save your money so that you can tackle these large pieces, as they are investments and commitments. Last, but not least, please allow your artist to be an artist.
Q. What is the pain level for a tattoo?
A. Everybody’s pain tolerance is different. In our experience the best comparison would be to getting a scratch on a sunburn or a cat scratch. It doesn’t feel good, but it’s more of an irritation than a constant pain. Remember, a tattoo has more in common with an abrasion than it does with a hypodermic needle shot from the doctor.
Q. How long does a tattoo take to heal?
A. The majority of your new tattoo’s healing process will be done within the first two weeks. However, the skin is still working to heal and rejuvenate and you need to plan on 4-6 weeks for your skin to return to its previous state.
Q. Why do tattoos start to itch while healing?
A. As the skin rejuvenates itself, usually about a week after the tattoo was done, the itch sets in. The tattoo will also start to peel and flake. This is 100% normal. Good moisturizers will help immensely with this but do not scratch it or pick it! If lotion isn’t helping, run it under cold water for a few moments and it should relieve the itch.
Q. Why do you require deposits?
A. Often we will have hours of work in drawing and preparing for a tattoo before you sit down in our chair. Deposits help to ensure you make it to your appointment and that we haven’t done hours of work for nothing. Artists are compensated for their time just like any other occupation.
Q. What is your shop minimum for tattoos?
A.Our shop minimum is $80. You may not realize it, but we go through nearly the same amount of very expensive supplies to do a tattoo the size of a quarter as we do for a tattoo the size of a softball, and everything must be sterilized before and after.
Q. What happens if I no-shoe during my appointment?
A. As long as you contact us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment we can reschedule you. If you no-show without prior communication(24hrs) you lose your deposit.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. We accept cash, card, and apple pay. WE PREFER CASH!!
Q. What are some things I may not think of before I come in?
A. -Take a shower
– Make sure you have a babysitter scheduled
– Bring a form of ID(License, passport, birth certificate, etc.)
– Eat before you come in!
– Tattoos need to flow with the body, so your idea may have to be slightly altered so the tattoo doesn’t look awkward
– Plagiarism also applies to art. If you come in with a picture of someone else’s tattoo we will ask to slightly alter it to make it yours
– Let your tattoo artist know if you are diabetic and/ have a skin condition
Q. When should I not get tattooed?
A. You should not get tattooed when you are:
– Drunk
– High
– Pregnant
– Pre-Surgery
– Post-Surgery
– When you’re sunburned
– If you don’t have an ID
– Being pressured into it
